Thirsty for Thankfulness: Day #1

 Thirsty for Thankfulness: Day #1

We have recognized that we are thirsty for some thankfulness in our lives. Now let's see what a difference purposefully satisfying our souls with Scripture can do.

We are going to approach  each of the next 30 days as if we have arranged for a coffee date with a friend.

We will sit down together.
We will enjoy the cup of blessing that can be provided by a good dose of Scripture.
We will stay and linger with our Creator as we reflect on our blessings as revealed in the words we read each day.
We will close with words of prayer to help deepen our relationship with Almighty God.

Scripture:

Psalm 63:1-5
a psalm of David
You, God, are my God, earnestly I seek you;
I thirst for you, my whole being longs for you,
in a dry and parched land where there is no water.

I have seen you in the sanctuary and beheld your power and your glory.
Because your love is better than life, my lips glorify you.
I will praise you as long as I live, and in your name I will lift up my hands.
I will be fully satisfied as with the richest of foods;  with singing lips my mouth will praise you.

Reflection:
Let's take some time to honestly think about our personal relationship with Almighty God. Have we ever had the same feelings that David shares in this passage? If not, what can we do about that?

In verse 2, it states, "I have...beheld your power and your glory." Let's reflect on times in our lives when we have beheld God's glory.

Acknowledge that God has done mighty works in our lives. Count those blessings, and speak words of praise to God.

Prayer:
Almighty God,
"I will praise you as long as I live, and in your name I will lift up my hands!" (v. 4) God, I need You in my life. Forgive me for not acknowledging all You have done for me. Forgive me for not recognizing the numerous blessings in my life. Help me to earnestly seek You and to show my gratitude to You, Lord God. I want to know You better. In Jesus' Name. Amen.
