Thirsty for Thankfulness: Day #19
Thirsty for Thankfulness: Day #19
Thankful for God's Power
"He determines the number of the stars and calls them each by name. Great is the Lord and mighty in power; his understanding has no limit." ~Psalm 147:4-5
Our routine:
- Sit down together.
- Enjoy the cup of blessing that can be provided by a good dose of Scripture.
- Stay and linger with our Creator as we reflect on our blessings as revealed in the words we read each day.
- Close with words of prayer to help deepen our relationship with Almighty God.
Scripture:
Psalm 93
"The LORD reigns, he is robed in majesty;
the LORD is robed in majesty and armed with strength;
indeed, the world is established, firm and secure.
Your throne was established long ago; you are from all eternity.
The seas have lifted up, LORD,
the seas have lifted up their voice;
the seas have lifted up their pounding waves.
Mightier than the thunder of the great waters,
mightier than the breakers of the sea--
the LORD on high is mighty.
Your statues, LORD, stand firm;
holiness adorns your house for endless days.
Nahum 1:3
"The LORD is slow to anger but great in power;
...His way is in the whirlwind and the storm..."
Job 26:7-10, 14
"He [God] spreads out the northern skies over empty space;
he suspends the earth over nothing.
He wraps up the waters in his clouds,
yet the clouds do not burst under their weight.
He covers the face of the full moon,
spreading his clouds over it.
He marks out the horizon on the face of the waters
for a boundary between light and darkness.
The pillars of the heavens quake aghast at his rebuke...
And these are but the outer fringe of his works;
how faint the whisper we hear of him!
Who then can understand the thunder of his power?"
Reflection:
Hopefully, we have created such a routine now that our hearts are softened to worship the Lord.
What choice is there but to breathe in a deep breath and be thankful for His power and for His mercy towards each of us?
Prayer:
Our God is truly an awesome God! Lord, we thank You for who You are. We thank you for Your Power in nature and Your power at work in our lives. We praise You, Heavenly Father. We are so thankful for Your love for us in the stillness and in the storms of life. In Jesus' Name. Amen.
