Thirsty for Thankfulness: Day #21
Thirsty for Thankfulness: Day #21
Thankful for God's Grace
"He [God] has saved us and called us to a holy life--not because of anything we have done but because of his own purpose and grace. This grace was given us in Christ Jesus before the beginning of time..." ~2 Timothy 1:9
Our routine:
- Sit down together.
- Enjoy the cup of blessing that can be provided by a good dose of Scripture.
- Stay and linger with our Creator as we reflect on our blessings as revealed in the words we read each day.
- Close with words of prayer to help deepen our relationship with Almighty God.
Scripture:
Romans 3:23-24
"For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and all are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus."
Titus 2:11
"For the grace of God has appeared that offers salvation to all people."
James 4:6
"But he [God] gives us more grace. That is why Scripture says: 'God opposes the proud but shows favor to the humble.'"
Ephesians 2:4-5
"But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions--it is by grace you have been saved."
Ephesians 2:6-7
"And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus, in order that in the coming ages he might show the incomparable riches of his grace, expressed in his kindness to us in Christ Jesus."
Titus 3:4-7
"But when the kindness and love of God our Savior appeared, he saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit, whom he poured out on us generously through Jesus Christ our Savior, so that, having been justified by his grace, we might become heirs having the hope of eternal life."
Ephesians 2:8-10
"For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith--and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God--not by works, so that no one can boast. For we are God's handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do."
2 Corinthians 12:9
"But he said to me, 'My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.' Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ's power may rest on me."
Reflection:
Unexpected...Undeserved...and dare we admit it...Unappreciated.
God's beautiful gift to us: His Grace. Let us soak in the undeniable truth of these verses. God has blessed us abundantly with His Grace.
Prayer:
Almighty God, Thank you! We recognize the gift of Grace that is in front of each of us. We acknowledge that we are sinners who are in need of a Savior. We know that Jesus Christ, Your Son is that Savior. God, we accept Your Beautiful Gift of Grace. In Jesus' Name. Amen.
