Thirsty for Thankfulness: Day #6

    Thirsty for Thankfulness: Day #6

Proof. We want proof.

Can being Thankful really make a difference in our lives?

I do enjoy having plants around the house, and yet, there are times when I can be less than attentive to them. I love the following video that shows the actual physical difference between a thirsty plant and a hydrated plant. Fascinating, right?

Now, let's reflect on our lives. If our spirit and God's Spirit within us are refreshed and hydrated by us acknowledging our Maker, how hydrated are we right now? Are we looking and feeling limp and defeated like the plant at the beginning of the video? It is time for us to make a change and to hydrate our spirit!

Our routine:
  • Sit down together.
  • Enjoy the cup of blessing that can be provided by a good dose of Scripture.
  • Stay and linger with our Creator as we reflect on our blessings as revealed in the words we read each day.
  • Close with words of prayer to help deepen our relationship with Almighty God.
Scripture:

I Corinthians 15:57-58
"But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
Therefore, my dear brothers and sisters, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain."

Hebrews 12:28-29
"Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, let us be thankful, and so worship God acceptably with reverence and awe, for our 'God is a consuming fire.'"

Psalm 92:1-5
"It is good to praise the LORD
and make music to your name, O Most High,
to proclaim your love in the morning
and your faithfulness at night,
to the music of the ten-stringed lyre
and the melody of the harp.
For you make me glad by your deeds, O LORD;
I sing for joy at the works of your hands.
How great are your works, O LORD,
how profound your thoughts!"

Psalm 9:1-2
"I will give thanks to you, LORD, with all my heart;
I will tell of all your wonderful deeds.
I will be glad and rejoice in you;
I will sing the praises of your name, O Most High."

Reflection:
Oh, the sweet refreshment contained in each of these passages.
Drink in the messages slowly and let their richness bless our own spirit and the Holy Spirit within us.
Feel our spirits lift much like the plant being hydrated. We do now have the strength in our spirits to acknowledge God as our Rock and our Strength.
Talk with God about each of the blessings in our lives.
Prayer:
Almighty God, we praise You! Thank You for strengthening us through Your Word. Guide us to a nurturing habit of thankfulness of Your Work in our lives. Thank You. Thank You. Thank You.
We want You in our lives. In the name of Jesus. Amen.
